Pistol Team on the 47th CISM WMSC at Guangzhou (China)

The Championship was held at Guangzhou, in the Guangdong province, one of the most economically advanced provinces of China. Hongkong and Macau are nearby.

In pistol were present: 26 teams + 8 individuals Men (111 shooters), and 17 teams women + 8 individuals (59 shooters). Lt Vl Leurs Eline could not participate because she on a course in the Netherlands till end of Dec. The Chinese organisation was perfect.

Challenge Cup "Cdt Grangé" - 8th edition

Our annual "25m Sport Pistol Match" was held at the Avia Offenberg Shooting Club in Florennes on Oct 18th.  About 30 shooters took part under which two Dutch colleagues. Three shooters were leading after the precision fire (PF) stage: 1QC Michiels Daniël (282 Pts), AJM Marique Jean-Luc (281 Pts) and Adjt Kok Dirk (NED) with 281 Pts. Last years winner, 1SC Rynkens Hendrik, was following in 4th place with 276 Pts. While the best of the PF stage were weakening in the second half of the rapid Fire (RF) stage, Rik became outstanding and finished with a 48-50-49, totalising 285 Pts in RF.
Ones again, Rik won this match with 561 Pts, two points ahead of Adjt Kok. Adjt Pirotte Didier was able keep up with Adjt Dirk Kok in RF and ended in third place.

R-CISM Pistol NED

The Pistol tournament was organized at the Heumensoord shooting range in Nijmegen. Pistol Teams from Germany, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Netherlands and Latvia were present. For this competition, 2 sets of 5 electronic scoring targets were used (Sius-Ascor). Since there were 23 competitors (16 male + 7 female), three relays were necessary. The organisation had to keep on going all day through (no breaks at all) in order to be ready by darkness. The Dutch Pistol Team, reinforced with retired team members and some volunteers from the armed forces did a good job. The weather unfortunately, was dark, cold, windy and wet. It surely influenced the results, especially during the MRF team Match on Thursday morning.
We managed to be in third place in MRF. AJM Marique became third in MRF individual.

The tournament took place in Salzburg, at the Liefering shooting range which is just across the border with Germany. Board and Loadging was provided by the Scharzenbergkazerne (Wals). Due to excellent contact with Andreas Södl (AUT), we were ones again fortunate, and could bring our female shooter to the competition. Eline shot against Sylvia Steiner (ISSF shooter).
Only five nations were present: Austria, Belgium, Latvia, Czech Republic & the Netherlands.

Although this tournament is only for men, we were allowed to bring our female shooter, OLt Vl Leurs Eline. She could compete with the Swiss female pistol shooter, Fw Natascha Möri.

This years edition of the Dutch Match was won by Adjt Pirotte Didier (BEL). In this Center Fire Pistol Match, Didier scored 559 Pts (276+283). In second place, we notice Maj Klok Ed (Dutch Nat Mil Team), he shot 552 Pts (277+275). 1CC Haenebalcke Patrick came in 6th place with 530 Pts (270+260).

The Match was shot on two new sets of electronic scoring targets
(Sius Ascor).

New Pistol Gunsmith

Our gunsmith since 2008, 1CC Meesschaert Luc, left the active service last April. Luc did a marvelous job in the team. The pistol shooters were very pleased with his work. Earlier this year we took officially leave of Luc.

Adjt Delhaye Pascal, an arms instructor of our Logistic School, took over.

President CSC Shooting passed away.

Col Josef Fischlin (SUI), President of  "CISM Shooting Committee", passed away on Monday, 23th April 2012. His funeral took place on Wednesday, May 2nd. Josef lost  his fight against cancer. 
Col Fischlin was a member of CSC Shooting through the years of 2000 until 2003 and eventually took over the presidency of CSC Shooting by January, 1st 2004.

CISM Day Run 2012

We were there!

Pistol Team Start Day 2012

On Wednesday Feb 15th, the annual Team gathering took place in Brussels. The individual equipment was checked. The Team & Individual results 2011 were evaluated. This year's program & directives were enlightened.
We welcomed a new team member, 1SC Henrion Jean-Lou.
We took leave of 1CC Deruytter Brigitte and 1CC Hooghe Edouard. Both were member since 1998. Brigitte participated in two World Championships, before the women's team was abolished in 2004. She was able to join again in 2010. Due to elbow injuries however, shooting accurately has become impossible for her. Edouard was selected six times for a World Championship. Being close to early retiring, he leaves the team. Both were rewarded a CISM Medal.
In 2011, OLt Vl Leurs Eline shot two new military records: one in Sport Pistol (566 Pts) and one in MRF (562 Pts). The old records were shot by Brigitte in 1999.

The 7th Edition of the "Challenge Cup Cdt Grangé" was held on Sep 15th at Florennes, on the AOC shooting range. The days before, we initiated new candidates for the team. The night before the match, the dutch team joined us. Their team however, was not at full strength & size. Nevertheless, we enjoyed there company & competition.

Old time shooter 1SC Rynkens Rik won the Center Fire Pistol Match with 564 Pts (278+286), before AJM Marique Jean-Luc with 555 Pts (287+268). 1QC Daniël Michiels took third place with 551 Pts (275+276).

One candidate for the team, passed the limit of 500 Pts: 1SC Henrion Jean-Lou shot 514 Pts (including one miss, 261+253) and will join the team in 2012.

R-CISM NED Pistol Shooting 2011

The Dutch Pistol Team organised a R-CISM Pistol Shooting in Nijmegen at the Heumensoord shooting range from June 14th till 17th. CZE, SUI, BEL & LUX were invited. Unfortunately LUX & CZE were not present. Lodging took place in Arnhem at the Oranje Kazerne. As SUI only had two male competitors, we agreed to count their female shooter in the team ranking. Adjt Götti Hansruedi (SUI) shot outstanding through out the whole competition and was no competition for us. The Dutch Team was handicapped, they could only compete with three shooters, the absolute minimum. The SUI won every event. Only in the MRF-team match, we came close on their heels, at six points to be precise. Our RIO-Team did well: a couple of 560's were shot, AJM Marique shot even a 573 in MRF and OLt Vl Leurs was able to beat her Personal Best in MRF by six points (562Pts). This is a New Belgian Military Best, the former Best of 553 Pts was held by 1CC Deruytter.

R-CISM SHOOTING SUI (THUN) 2011 - Pistol Team

As last year, the shooting took place in THUN and lodging in LYSS. Long days were the result of this organisation. Ten nations participated in the pistol events: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Switserland Sweden and Turkey.

Norway came out as best shooting nation and the best pistol shooter was Turkish. Belgium came out on the 7th place. AJM Marique was able the get into the individual CISM Final in Pistol (10 Best). He ranked himself in 8th place. Adjt Pirotte shot a New Personal Best in CF with 562 Pts. 1CC Hooghe stayed below expectations.

Serge Ottevaere

Very bad tiding

Today, we received a message saying Lt Kol SBH Ottevaere Serge has passed away. Serge, our former pistol coach and later Chief of Mission, died of cancer, which was diagnosed in Aug 2009. Two surgical operations, followed by chemo treatments, could not save him. End of Sep 2010, doctors were out of solutions, ... unfortunatly.

The Belgian sport shooting community hereby loses a big man, a huge monument.

The funeral takes place on Tuesday, Dec 21st in DEERLIJK at 1030 Hr.

Ammo testing in Lapua (FIN)

On Oct 14th, in the Lapua factory (Finland), the team tested new lots of 6mm BR Norma which are to be purchased . All lots passed, but only the best were chosen to be delivered.

Unfortunately, we encountered a sudden burn out of one of our barrels: bullet speed dropped drastically (> 50 m/s), and the grouping at 300m increased dramatically (> 20 cm). That makes one more barrel less for the WC. Three out of seven are out of order now . Hope the material manager can buy new barrels in time.

Swiss Regional CISM Championship

From 13-17 Sep the championship took place in Thun, where one of the big Swiss shooting fascilities are situated. Both the Belgian Pistol and Rifle Team Men were present, although not in their strongest composition. It was also the first competition for our new Chief of mission. Nine countries had sent teams or individual shooters: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Switserland of course. Switserland came out as Best shooting nation.

The shooters had to get up very early in order to take breakfast (0530 AM) and get ready to take the bus for the range. Lodging took place at Lyss, an hour's drive away from Thun.
For the first time in CISM, an individual Final decided on the best shooter in Pistol and Rifle. Only the best ten shooters in each discipline could participate (based on their results in the individual matches). WO1 Pavlis Carl (AUT) won in Pistol and Cpl Raser Stefan (AUT) took first place in Rifle.

Open Nordic Military Shooting Championship 2010

From Sep 6th till 9th, Finland organised the Championship at KAJAANI. The Kainuu Brigade was our host. Besides the Nordic countries, Latvia and Belgium participated in the competition. Our women (both pistol and rifle shooters) and the men's pistol team competed with the world famous scandinavian shooters. Only OLt Vl Leurs Eline and Sdt Vercrusse Stephanie were able to be of any thread to the Nordic performances. Eline shot 6 points more than her previous Best in MRF.

Cup of Flanders - 25m Pistol - 28 Aug

The Cup of Flanders 25m Pistol was held in Zwevegem. The province of Limburg won the competition. In their team, two shooters of the military team: Adjt bd Hommers Armand and OLt Vl Leurs Eline. Both won the competition in their categorie (Men & women). A third member of our team, 1CC Haenebalcke, was shooting for the province of Vlaams Brabant, which ended on third place.

Every year, our Rifle team is invited to Sonthofen, to shoot the German CISM Rifle Cup. The tournament was organised by the "Sportfördergruppe der Bündeswehr Sonthofen" from 21-25 of June. Eight European countries were present: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Latvia, Norway, Switserland & Germany.

Norway won every competition: 4 gold medals. They took 7 medals out of 12 in total. No wonder they ended up as "Best Shooting Nation" and had the best shooter in their team: Hans Kristian WEAR, 1152 Pts (SR 579 Pts + MRF 573 Pts).
